Ps3 Fat temp. Hello guys, So I recently jailbreaked my 40gb ps3 fat and upgraded the hardrive.
PS3 CPU Temps
I was surprised to see the temp in multiman. I am really worried about this, are these the pre YLOD temp? What should I do? Shall I test more? In my experience, the temperature sensor is not very accurate. Just repaste both over and under the heat spreader and then forget about it.
Set and forget! I also have a fat that used to get loud, even after repasting only over the heatspreader, but then when I did under as well both cpu and rsx it was as quiet as when I first used it on day 1.
It is important to know that bad thermal paste will only get worse over time, and fan control with bad paste will only make it get worse faster, you should repaste it with something better if you have overheating problems. Not that fan control will make it worse, it only will if you have an overheating problem.
Use Webman or Control Fan Utility to adjust the fan speed. I'd recommend 35 or 40 percent. I'd recommend reapplying the thermal paste, especially if adjusting the fan speed doesn't help. Did you changed thermal paste and cleaned it out of dust? Some people recommend drilling a ventilation hole on the front of the case. Yes the thermal past hasn't been replaced yet. But hoenstly I am not very good in those, and it looked a bit of a task to remove them. Should I try myself? Or just give it to a local console repairing shop?
Depends really, its not a very hard job to do if you have the right tools. If I recall correctly you will need a torx screwdriver set, some isopropol alcohol and the new thermal paste.
If you've got the cash and can find a place that does good work then yeah, send it in for maintenance. These temps are nothing to be worried about especially since you were playing Crisis 2. It's probably one of the most demanding games for the PS3.I've seen a lot of various answers ranging from 70c being normal for fats, 72 being normal, some saying 75 is normal good godsome say it's 60ish.
Well, the truth is, theres so many different answers, I'm not sure which to use as a rule of thumb for testing. The paste was still "wet" but I replaced it with a diamond thermal paste instead.
Room temp ranges from c, highest idle after the 20 minutes and then cool down was 66c when i first applied the paste, it's been around the 60c mark since a few heatup and cool down cycles.
I'm going for what good temps would be while letting the system handle the cooling instead of payload, webman, or user speed. The reason doesnt really matter so please just answers. I know the risks and everything, been doing this stuff since 3. What the wiki shows under the thermal section isn't really a good idea for base values imo because none of them are even close to any of the consoles ive had or have. I understand they are all going to be different slightly, but some better input would help.
Thanks for your time, especially if you can shed some light! Edit: Forgot this bit: sees a c rise after 2 hours of p Bluray. Also, is Drakengard 3 a good game to use for testing gaming temps? Last edited: Feb 4, TokijinFeb 4, JoonieFeb 6, TokijinFeb 6, Last edited: Feb 6, Maybe I should reiterate. I'm not looking for tips or answers on cooling or how to keep the system cool, or for inforation about replacing paste, IHS or otherwise. I already use webMAN to see temps. As I stated, I'm not new to this, just new to repairs.
Having to use the other fan control settings payload, etc are just quick fixes, so I want to make sure they are being properly cooled by the system, before adding the extra layer of protection the fan control app or webman provide. I'm looking for two things. What are normal temps for a properly cooled PS3 using just the Syscon fan idle and gaming?
What is a good game for testing temps while in game? Are these temperatures and fan speed safe? Level 3.

That can get quite distractive, but I just put some headphones on and rack up the volume. But, as I said, I'm pretty paranoid.PS4 Pro Horizontal vs Vertical Thermal Test
Will the fans wear out after being at that speed for too long? I cleaned only the fan ports and did the fan cleaning function hold eject and plug in cableI didn't open it I'm quite careless so I kind of avoid doing that.
The console is in a horizontal position and has enough place to breath. Please, answer my question any way you know. I'd be grateful to you. Thanks in advance. Bumblecito likes this. Level 5. Keep reading to learn more info related to computer CPU temperature, what the normal and excessive temperature ranges are, what is a safe CPU temp range etc.
In most cases, here are the ranges of temperatures as measured at the Core of the CPU:. The Core temp is the standard for processor thermal measurements. Therefore, when doing thermal measurement make sure to know which actual temp your tool shows Core temp or Tcase temp. Your CPU will perform well if it has an adequate cooling system to keep the Core thermal ranges within the above numbers.
Besides that, leading CPU manufacturers all have different normal temperature ranges, which vary based on their models. A CPU works by either blocking electric signals from its microscopic transistors or allowing the signals to pass through the transistors. Overheating is a cause of concern even if you are not overclocking your CPU.
It can reduce the life span of your CPU or cause major problems such as throttling. CPU load is the collection of applications, software processes, and games your computer is running.
Reducing the load can help you minimize the temperature. An idle CPU unit works within the normal temperature range unless there is a problem with the hardware e. In cases where the temperature exceeds this limit, your CPU is at risk of being damaged. Unfortunately, there is no built-in application in Windows 10 for checking the CPU temperature of your computer. However, many third-party applications allow you to check the temperature of your CPU.

Safe CPU Temp – What Temperature Should my CPU be?
As most of you know, the magic of DeanK and other PS3 scene developers has made it possible to get real-time temperatures even in-game. I bought it used and it's probably been used for 5 years minimum. So is this normal or should I be worried? So I'm guessing 80C is not critical. Please note that these temps are measured using webMAN, in-game and under heavy load which is very different than measuring in multiMAN.
So if you're going to measure yours and post here, make sure you do it while in-game and after at least 30 mins of playing. I would appreciate it very much if you guys can help me out here and confirm that my paranoia is not for no reason, or help ease it off. I say paranoia because I had a Slim PS3 before this one and it had about tge same temps as this one under load. So I opened it up so many times that I finally broke it completely!
I changed the thermal paste, cleaned the dust and all that to no avail. I'm an avid gamer so I need this PS3 to live a few more years, so I want to be safe. If 80C is too much, I'll shell out the money to get it fixed. AliRezaSep 3, Last edited: Sep 3, Thanks for the input guys.
So I was right. So the I contacted a repairman here and he said that the only way he knows how to stop a PS3's fan and temperature from kicking up, is to reflow the motherboard.
Is that even relevant or he's wrong? He's asking for a lot of money too. So do you think I should do it or find someone else? And you said that you think my PS3 will be dead in months. But I've been using it for months with the same temps and it's never even turned off on me from overheating, let alone giving me a yellow or red light.
And to my knowledge, PS3 consoles will not just go up and dead all of a sudden. You will experience shutdowns from overheating, in-game glitches from overheating, that sorts things before it dies.
I've never had any of that. One thing I've learned about PS3 is that it's imperative you do not turn it off while in game and under heavy load. Because there will be sudden cooldown of the MB which is not good as it will expand and contract to the point of breaking connections. That's a rule for me. Another question I have is that beside changing the thermal paste and cleaning out the dust, what else can I do? I even drilled some holes under the casing and it didn't help much.
Does changing the paste under the IHS have a big effect? How many degrees will that shave off of my temps? I'm not planning on doing it myself, of course. As you can see,it has alot of space to the back, and some inches to the sides.
Still,it gets a bit warm at the back top and hot at the back bottom. Its not HOT like it burns,i can leave my hand there forever, but still it scares me since my friend says he's doesn't get even a bit warm. He lives in an 8thish floor apartment tho, with windows so that may help. My room's windows are broken so i cant open them, but its barely ever hot in my room.
So,should I care about this? I put it beside the T. V which is almost the same space to the back and sides, but ALOT more space in height. Your PS3 is in an enclosed space. That is not good. In enclosed spaces, warm air can still potentially bounce back towards the PS3 even if you meet the minimum space requirements.
I guarantee you this is why your PS3 gets warmer. This is also not a good thing. The good thing is it doesn't seem to be causing any real problems; I'm guessing your Slim isn't noisy or anything. Being warmer isn't necessarily a bad thing. Its a powerful game console generating about watts or so of power, after all, you should expect it to get warm. But you wanted to get an idea why its warmer and those are a couple things I see from your pic.
That includes TVs, game consoles, cable boxes, etc. This, along with the enclosed space, is why your Slim is getting warmer than another one.
But, like I said, I don't see how this is considered a problem. Electronics generate heat; that's what they do. The PS3 is like a PC, where it maintains a certain internal operating temperature.
It runs the fans at different speeds to maintain that temperature. You really should stop worrying because a warm PS3 is perfectly normal and there is no logical reason to try making a powerful electronic device like the PS3 feel cooler than it already is unless the fan is louder than an F fighter jet. If you really want to keep an electronic device next to the PS3, the Wii would be a better device, as the Wii only generates a ridiculously low 20 watts consistently.
